CAST/STAFF Bios


 

Sarah Blubaugh (Dani) is thrilled to be back on stage at Blank Canvas! She was last seen on BCT's stage in Equus (Jill). Sarah recently graduated from Cleveland State University, with credits there including Company (Amy), Romeo and Juliet (Juliet), and Avenue Q (Kate Monster). Upcoming projects include working as ASM/Understudy for Appropriate at Dobama Theatre and ASM for On the Grill. She hopes you enjoy the show!

 

 

 

Michael Johnson (Charles) is very excited to be playing Charles in this production. Recent credits include The Tempest (Caliban) and Richard II (Duke of Aumerle).

 

 

 

 

 

Katie Simón Atkinson (Costumer Design) is very excited to work on her first Blank Canvas show! Her most recent costuming credit is James & The Giant Peach (currently running at Broadview Heights Spotlights), and she will be costuming their production of Dividing The Estate coming in the spring. Recent onstage credits include Corie (Barefoot in the Park), Ethel (Footloose the Musical), and Katharina (Taming of the Shrew)In addition to acting and now costume design, Katie is the Board Secretary for Medina's Shakespeare in the Square and teaches Shakespeare at Cassidy Theatre in the little spare time she has. Thanks to Pat for the opportunity and warm welcome, and thanks, of course, to Jill for the teamwork and the encyclopedic knowledge of the clearance rack. Love to Joe, who's the reason for all of this, and love to John, for the love, support, and unwavering patience.


Will C Crosby (Stage Manager) is happy to return to Blank Canvas once again, Will has performed, stage managed, and directed a couple variety shows here. Will also directs and performs all over the northeast Ohio theatre district. Will thanks you for supporting live theatre!

 

 


 

David Hansen (Playwright) has participated in Cleveland’s theater renaissance as the founder and artistic director of Guerrilla Theater Company and Dobama’s Night Kitchen, as well as an actor and director at Cleveland Play House, Great Lakes Theater, Cleveland Public Theatre, Dobama Theatre, Beck Center and Karamu House. His produced plays include Red Onion White Garlic, Rosalynde & The Falcon, The Vampyres and On the Dark Side of Twilight. Published works include Double Heart (The Courtship of Beatrice and Benedick) and adaptations of Agatha Christie’s The Mysterious Affair at Styles and The Secret Adversary. Solo performances include And Then You Die (How I Ran a Marathon in 26.2 Years) and his award-winning work on stillbirth, I Hate This (a play without the baby). David is Education Outreach Associate for Great Lakes Theater and a member of the Cleveland Play House Playwrights’ Unit and the Dramatists Guild of America. Jill Kenderes (Costume Design) is thrilled to be working at Blank Canvas for the first time.  She has been a performer in Northeast Ohio for fourteen years and is excited to expand her theatrical journey with costume design.  Some of her costuming work has been seen with Blank Canvas Theatre’s resident sketch comedy group The Laughter League and with her designing partner Katie: James and the Giant Peach at Broadview Heights Spotlights Theatre.  Thanks to Patrick, Katie, Joe, Anthony and Samantha.  

 

 


Lara Mielcarek (Director) is very grateful to Patrick for this opportunity, to David Hansen for his incredible script and to her two actors who bring this story to life. Her directing credits include: The Odyssey (DEAP), All in the Timing & Almost, Maine (CSU) as well as several adapted Shakespearean works for A.R.C., a rehabilitation program that she founded in 2016 at the women's penitentiary in Cleveland. Lara is an Equity actress, a core company member of the Ohio Shakespeare Festival and an adjunct instructor at both Mount Union and Cleveland State.
