We do our best to see and consider additional performers, but attending auditions in person is always ideal.

What to prepare: Please prepare two contrasting cuts in the style of the show (contemporary musical theatre or pop-rock), not to exceed three minutes total. Please bring a headshot and resume to auditions. Headshots and resumes are appreciated, but not required.
Performance Dates:
October 16 - 31
Shows will be Thursday-Sunday. Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8:00pm. Sunday performances will be at 7:00pm.
Rehearsals:
Begin September 14
Rehearsals will be Sundays-Thursdays. Typically 7pm-10pm, though Sundays are usually 6pm-10pm.
Pay: Blank Canvas Theatre dedicates 20% of the net profit to the cast of each show. The cast splits this evenly.

The Story
Carrie White is a teenage outcast who longs to fit in. At school, she’s bullied by the popular crowd, and virtually invisible to everyone else. At home, she’s ridiculed by her cruelly controlling mother. What none of them know is that Carrie has unique abilities and, if pushed too far, it could spell disaster for all of those around her. Based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King, Carrie: The Musical takes you through a coming of age journey like no other.
Character Breakdown
We strongly encourage performers of all genders, gender identities, races, and backgrounds to submit. For all teen roles we are looking to cast actors from 16-25 years old who can pass for teen characters on stage. All adult roles can be between 30-60 years old.
Carrie White: vocal range G3 – E3.
A shy outsider, bullied by her classmates and controlled by her overly religious mother. She has telekinetic power that she discovers. When pushed too far, she unleashes the power.
Margaret White: (adult) vocal range G3 -G5.
Carrie’s mother. She balances her fervent religious convictions, spirituality, and maternal love for Carrie. She is woman of visceral extremes.
Sue Snell: vocal range A3-E5.
A popular girl who has always fit in. After a cruel act of bullying that she participated in, she feels true remorse and then tries to do the right things.
Tommy Ross: vocal range A2-C5.
Popular star athlete and budding poet. He is the boyfriend to Sue Snell. He has the jock personality but has a sensitivity for others as well.
Chris Hargensen: vocal range E3-E5.
Rich and spoiled. She believes that rules don’t apply to her and has anger management issues. She is the queen bee and leader of the bullies.
Billy Nolan: vocal range A2-C5.
A sexy, stupid-like- a fox bad boy. Those qualities make it easy for his girlfriend Chris to manipulate him to do his bidding.
Norma: vocal range E3-E5.
Mean girl, gossipy with tomboy qualities and a suck up to authority. She is Chris Hargensen’s best friend.
Frieda: vocal range E3-G5.
Sue’s brainy friend. She is a get along follower and a extracurricular committee volunteer.
Helen: vocal range E3-G5.
Giggly slightly nerdy and easily shocked. Her need to belong makes her an example of the herd mentality.
George: vocal range A2-C5.
Tommy’s jock wingman and Frieda’s boyfriend. He idolizes Tommy, perhaps a bit too much.
Stokes: vocal range A2-C5.
A bit of a nerd and he’s happy to be included as one of Tommy’s friends.
Freddy: vocal range A2-C5.
A slick, wise cracking guy. Has an immaturity and can be a follower to those such as Billy, Chris, and Norma.
Miss. Lynn Gardener: (adult) vocal range E3-C#5.
Girls’ P.E. teacher who can be a strict disciplinarian, whom also shows maternal instincts wanting to protect Carrie.
Mr. Stephens: (adult) vocal range A2-G4.
Well intentioned English teacher and guidance counselor. Stretched thin in his duties, underpaid and a bit overwhelmed at times.
Reverend Bliss: (adult) vocal range C3-G4.
He can be played by the same actor as Mr. Stephens. Reverend Bliss is the local preacher on WORD radio.
ENSEMBLE: vocal ranges similar to the named characters. Ensemble will have various styles and personalities that further represent the Chamberlain student body that Stephen King wrote in his original book.
